What old English text is

Old English style lettering, also called gothic, blackletter or Fraktur, is the angular medieval script seen on newspaper mastheads, diplomas and tattoos. This tool uses the Unicode Fraktur alphabets, in regular and bold.

Where people use it

Gaming and Discord names, music and band-style bios, invitations and posts with a medieval or fantasy theme.

Is it the same as Old English the language?

No. The language Old English (Anglo-Saxon) was written in a different alphabet. The lettering here is the blackletter style used much later in print, which is what most people mean when they search for old English fonts.

Readability

Fraktur is one of the hardest styles to read quickly. Use it for one or two words, keep important information in plain letters, and check how it looks on your phone.
