How it works
Each letter is followed by a Unicode combining mark that draws a line through it. Because it is made of characters, the strikethrough survives copy and paste into apps with no formatting tools.
Where to use it
Jokes (crossed-out words that you take back), edits, price changes, to-do lists, and playful captions. In messages, some apps also have shortcuts: Discord and WhatsApp let you wrap text in tildes.
Things to know
Combining marks make text longer in the character count. Some fonts draw the line slightly off, and a few apps do not display it. Screen readers may read it oddly.
